Grown ups only
Only a grown up aged 18 or over can order. Children never need an account or to type anything in.
First name only
We only ask what we need to make the book. No birthdays, schools or surnames.
Deleted after delivery
Your child’s name, look and Mark are deleted once the book has been delivered.
Never for marketing
We never market to children and never use a child’s details for anything but their book.

The book
What age is the book for?
The Explorer’s Mark is written for readers aged 8 to 12. Younger explorers love it too when a grown up reads along, and the puzzles are great to solve together.
What can be personalised?
Your child’s first name or nickname, their look (boy or girl, straight or curly hair, skin tone and hair colour) and their Explorer’s Mark. Everything else in the story stays exactly as written and illustrated.
Can my child be a girl in the story?
Absolutely. Choose the girl version and your daughter becomes the hero, with her own look on every page where the hero appears.
Can I use a nickname?
Yes. Any first name or nickname up to 12 letters works, including names with accents, apostrophes or hyphens.
How does my child’s own Mark work?
Take a clear photo of the Mark they’ve drawn and upload it, and we’ll clean it up and place it in the book. Or simply choose one of our explorer symbols instead.
Will Book Two remember their look and Mark?
Yes. Your order comes with a short Explorer code. Enter it when you order Book Two and your child’s look and Mark come straight back, with nothing stored by us in the meantime.
Ordering
Who can place an order?
Any grown up aged 18 or over: parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and friends. The child never needs to enter any details.
Can I order one as a gift?
Yes! Personalised books make a wonderful present. Just check the spelling of the child’s name with someone who knows it well, and you can post the printed book straight to them.
Can I see it before I pay?
Yes. You’ll see a preview of every personalised page and confirm the spelling of the name before you check out.
Is paying online safe?
Payments are handled by Stripe, a secure payment provider. We never see or store your card details.
Can I buy a standard copy instead?
Of course. The standard paperback is A$27.95, with retailer links on The Explorer’s Mark page.
Do you offer copies for schools or libraries?
We’d love to help. Get in touch and tell us what you need.
Delivery and help
How will it arrive?
The PDF arrives by email with a download link. Printed books are made to order and posted to you, and we’ll email tracking once it ships. You’ll see the estimated delivery time before you pay.
My download link has expired. What now?
No problem. Use the link in your order email to send yourself a fresh one at any time.
What if the book arrives damaged?
Let us know with your order number and we’ll send a replacement free of charge.
Can I return a personalised book?
Because each book is made just for one child, we can’t accept change of mind returns. If anything is wrong with your book, we’ll put it right. This doesn’t affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
What happens to my child’s details?
They’re used only to make the book, then deleted after delivery. Read our privacy policy for the full detail.
